El Varadero, Isla Mujeres

El Varadero Cuban restaurant Isla Mujeres

El Varadero Cuban restaurant is one of my all time favorite restaurants on Isla Mujeres. It’s adorable, off the beaten path and has delicious food and drinks! We highly recommend this restaurant on Isla Mujeres! The mojitos are among the best on the island the seafood is always fresh. Not a seafood fan? Try the chicken fricassee!

The bar where I watched my awesome mojito being made 🙂 Each mojito made by hand, it may take a few minutes to get it, but well worth it.

  1. Their pescado asado al carbon (whole fish in marinade cooked over coals) is so tasty…even better than Playa Lancheros tik n xik, which we love. They asked if we’d preordered it, but didn’t bat an eye when we said no. It takes a while to prepare, like tik n xik. But meanwhile the atmosphere, mojitos, & boats passing by are entertaining. When we were there Saturday, there was a duo playing and singing that were very pleasant, and it was touching when two tables of people joined in on a very sentimental song. The snappily dressed bartender who makes sure things run smoothly upfront and the woman in bright Cuban clothing who who oversees the rest are friendly and efficient. A great, relaxing experience as well as excellent food and drink.

  2. You have such good taste – El Varadero is MY favorite on Isla, too! The mojitos are the best on the island and the food is so fresh and tasty. I had fried black grouper there last year that was the best meal I had in the two weeks we were on the island. Thanks for the great post. Now I’m really missing Isla Mujeres!
