Thank you for the great info – one thing we’re really looking for though and not yet covered – how do we get from our hotel (Golden Parnassus) to Playa Del Carmen? Bus number, or shuttles available? Price?

You can either taxi to Playa which will be about $60 one way, pricey, but Playa is about an hour’s drive. Or you can go to the downtown Cancun bus station and catch the bus. Taxi or take a city bus from your hotel to the bus station. Buses leave approx every 15 minutes and cost 40 pesos per person, this is the cheapest way to get to Playa. There are also colectivo vans called Playa Express right across the street from the bus station, same price and approx same schedule as the bus. The difference is you will be traveling in a van and they are usually faster than a big bus. Then to return to Cancun just do everything in reverse.
