How to get to Isla Mujeres
You’ve landed at the Cancun airport and now you need to get to Isla Mujeres.
Some want the cheapest, some want the fastest and everyone wants to get there safely.
There are three ways to get from the airport to the ferry that will take you to the island.
We’ll start with cheapest, if you are a solo traveler or a couple, taking the ADO bus from the airport to the downtown Cancun bus station and then getting a taxi to the ferry. The bus from the airport departs approximately every 30 minutes beginning at around 8am until 11pm, the cost is 130 pesos, about $7.75 us. Once at the Cancun bus station we usually take a taxi for about 150 pesos, about $9.00us. For two of us the cost is $16.00us plus any tips. This is the cheapest way to get to the ferry, but not usually the quickest. You can check the ADO bus website for times and if there are price changes.
Private transfer
The third, and most popular way to get to the ferry fast is a private transfer service. This is something you reserve in advance, see links below. There are many companies who offer this service, you can purchase ferry tickets, drinks, snacks, car seats for the kids and other essentials when you reserve with any of the four I am going to mention. All have stellar reputations and you can’t go wrong with any of these. There are slight pricing differences between each one, so check them out to find the best price.
