We passed through several small villages with the townspeople lined up by the many topes (speed bumps) trying to sell their merchandise. It always scares me when children run along side the cars, usually the open cars like jeeps, trying to sell stuff. What if they tripped ? I hate to think about it. Please drive carefully.
Coba
Our final adventure would be Coba, it's been years since I've been there and the kids have never seen Coba.Things have changed since my last visit, there are actually tour busses here! Years ago Perry & I had taken the local bus, and got ourselves stranded. Luckliy a kind Canadian couple gave us a ride back to Playa.
Coba is really spread out, and it's a lot of walking unless you rent a bike. I would have liked to get bikes, maybe next time when Alec is bigger and not so dangerous operating a vehicle.
There are also trike guys, you can sit and enjoy the ride and let someone else do the peddling!
It's a long walk back, where are those trike guys when you need 'em?
I think this is my "get me to the beach" hike!
Lots of shops and a few restaurants outside of the ruins, but we could not find a postcard of Coba!
Kelsey had been collecting postcards from the other sites we visited and was pretty bummed we couldn't find one here. We even searched all over Playa del Carmen, and never found a Coba postcard.
