How to Get to.......

From the Cancun hotel zone, take either a taxi or Rt 1 bus, to the downtown Cancun bus station, # F1 on your Can-Do Cancun map.
A taxi to the bus station , depending on where your hotel is will cost between 75 & 120 pesos, the bus is 6.5 pesos. The bus will be cheaper, but the taxi will be faster.
At the bus station buy a ticket on the Riviera bus line, (picture at right) these are big modern touring buses, with luggage compartments if you have luggage with you. The bus will cost 30 pesos and will get you to the Playa del Carmen bus station in about 45 minutes.
These buses run about every 15 minutes from 7 am until 11pm daily.
To return to Cancun do the same in reverse. |

There are several ways to get from the airport to Playa del Carmen, the first I will recommend is also the cheapest way.
The Riviera bus to Playa located at the west end of terminal 2 , 65 pesos for adults, 33 pesos for kids, this bus departs hourly from 10:30 am until 9:30 pm You can purchase tickets right inside the terminal building near the closest door to the bus.

The next way would be to take a colectivo from the airport to your hotel, you can purchase tickets at the kiosk in the airport.
Private transportation, you can arrange this in advance and they will be there waiting for you. Two that I recommend are:

There's more than one way! The one that I would recommend is taking the bus from the airport to the downtown Cancun bus station. This bus is red, the sign in the window will say Aeropuerto, it is located at the west end of terminal 2. Right next to the blue bus that goes to Playa del Carmen.You can purchase tickets right inside the terminal building near the closest door to the bus.The buses run approx. every 30 minutes beginning at 5:30 AM until around midnight. The cost is 15 pesos. From the Cancun bus station take a taxi to Puerto Juarez. There are now two different ferry services, Puerto Cancun is the first one you will see, the other is the original Puerto Juarez dock and is just a little ways up the street.
Both are 35 pesos and run every 1/2 hour.
The other option is the collectivo which would be around $9.00 per person, this is a shared ride and some passengers may be going to the Cancun hotel zone. This could make your trip to Puerto Juarez very long.

The best way to get from Playa to Isla Mujeres is to take the bus or a colectivo to the downtown Cancun bus station, you can get a bus at the Playa bus station or the colectivo right outside the bus station where the taxis park. The bus will take you right to the bus station in Cancun, the colectivos use a parking lot across the street. Then get a taxi to Puerto Juarez and hop on the ferry.
Purcahse your ticket on the ferry, 35 pesos

Take the ferry from Isla to Puerto Juarez, from there get a taxi to the downtown Cancun bus station. The taxi fare should only be a couple of dollars and the prices are posted, so don't let a taxi overcharge you Get a ticket on the Riviera bus, same as above, Playa del Carmen from Cancun
You can also take a taxi all the way to Playa, which would be around $50.00
